“WE’RE REPLACING A 27” WITH A 42” DIAMETER PIPELINE.” A PROJECT TO UPDATE A WASTEWATER LINE IN NORTHERN FRISCO ALSO INCLUDES A NEW HIKE AND BIKE TRAIL CONNECTION.

"DURING THE CITY OF FRISCO’S WASTEWATER MASTER PLAN, IT WAS IDENTIFIED THAT IN ORDER TO KEEP UP WITH PROJECTED FLOWS, WE NEEDED TO UPSIZE THE PIPELINE.

CONSTRUCTION IS UNDERWAY NORTH OF ELDORADO PARKWAY AND WEST OF PRESTON ROAD TO REPLACE THE CURRENT INTERCEPTOR.

THAT'S A LARGE PIPELINE THAT COLLECTS WASTEWATER FROM HOMES, BUSINESSES & INDUSTRIAL AREAS AND TAKES IT TO TREATMENT FACILITIES.

"THE INTERCEPTORS GENERALLY FOLLOW THE ALIGNMENT OF THE CREEKS AND THAT IS MAINLY BECAUSE THEY’RE ALL GRAVITY SYSTEMS. SO ESSENTIALLY, THEY FLOW UPSTREAM TO DOWNSTREAM SIMILAR TO WHAT A CREEK WOULD DO.” THE PIPELINE IS ABOUT 7,000 FEET LONG AND RUNS FROM THE BNSF RAILROAD EAST TO PRESTON ROAD.

A 1.3 MILE HIKE AND BIKE TRAIL IS ALSO PART OF THE PROJECT, WHICH WILL FOLLOW THE GENERAL PATH OF THE PIPELINE.

“THIS IS A CRITICAL COMPONENT BECAUSE IT’S ESSENTIALLY CONNECTING THE EXISTING TRAIL ON THE EASTERN END WITH DOMINION TRAIL AND THEN ON THE WEST SIDE IT’S CONNECTING TO FUTURE TRAILS." PLUS THE TRAIL WILL INCLUDE PEDESTRIAN BRIDGES OVER PANTHER CREEK.

“WE’RE ALSO DOING SOME STORMWATER COMPONENTS TO ADDRESS CREEK EROSION OF SOME OF THE BANKS OF PANTHER CREEK.” THAT REINFORCEMENT OF THE BANKS WILL PROTECT THE INFRASTRUCTURE AND THE HIKE AND BIKE TRAIL.

“THE PROJECT IS ABOUT $14 MILLION, AND IT’S PRIMARILY BEING FUNDED BY BONDS AND FEDERAL GRANTS.” CONSTRUCTION IS EXPECTED TO BE COMPLETE BY THE END OF 2025.
