“THE PROJECT IS ON SCHEDULE AND ON BUDGET.” CONSTRUCTION STARTED IN AUGUST TO RENOVATE FRISCO CITY HALL, WHICH OPENED IN 2006.

“WHEN IT WAS DESIGNED, THE INTENT OF THIS BUILDING WAS FOR IT TO BE A 100-YEAR BUILDING.

AND WITH THAT IT WAS THOUGHT OF THAT THERE WOULD BE A NEED TO ADDRESS RENOVATION PROJECTS ON ESSENTIALLY A 20-YEAR BASIS.” ONCE THE PROJECT TO BUILD THE NEW, STAND-ALONE LIBRARY BEGAN, SO DID THE PROCESS TO RENOVATE AND UPDATE CITY HALL.

“A BIG FOCUS OF THIS PROJECT IS ON THE EMPLOYEE WORK SPACES, SO NOT ONLY DID WE PLAN FOR ULTIMATE BUILD OUT NEEDS OF EACH OF THE 8 DEPARTMENTS AND CITY MANAGERS’ OFFICE HOUSED HERE AT CITY HALL, BUT WE WANTED TO ENSURE THAT THE SPACES WERE ADAPTED AND MODERNIZED." THE PROJECT TAKES INTO CONSIDERATION THE WAY PEOPLE WORK IN THE OFFICE AND AT HOME.

“THE PANDEMIC PLAYED A ROLE, NOT NECESSARILY A DOMINANT ROLE, BUT I THINK WE LEARNED TO OPERATE IN A MORE FLEXIBLE MANNER.” THE OFFICES PEOPLE VISIT THE MOST WILL BE CONSOLIDATED ON THE FIRST FLOOR.

“WE’RE GOING TO HAVE A NEW CUSTOMER SERVICE CENTER, THE POST OFFICE AND THE COLLIN COUNTY TAX OFFICE WILL MOVE FROM THE 2ND FLOOR TO THE GROUND FLOOR. AND THEN OUR UTILITY BILLING FUNCTION WILL CONTINUE TO BE HOUSED HERE ON THE GROUND FLOOR AS WELL.” PLUS THERE WILL BE WAYFINDING ON THE FIRST FLOOR TO HELP VISITORS.

THE RENOVATION WILL COST AROUND $24 MILLION AND WILL BE LARGELY FUNDED THROUGH 2015 VOTER APPROVED BONDS.

"THE CONSTRUCTION WILL BE CONDUCTED OVER A COURSE OF 3 6-MONTH PHASES. CURRENTLY WORK IS PRIMARILY FOCUSED ON SOME OF THE DEPARTMENT WORKSPACES ON THE 1ST, 2ND AND 4TH FLOORS. AS THE PROJECT CONTINUES TO ADVANCE AND WE GET INTO 2025, THE PROJECT WILL BE MORE PUBLIC FACING. THE CITY WILL CONTINUE TO PROVIDE ALL SERVICES THAT ARE CURRENTLY PROVIDED AT CITY HALL.” THE RENOVATION IS EXPECTED TO BE COMPLETE BY MID-2026.
